  • Tiffany A. Harkleroad "Tiffanys Bookshelf" - fantastic thrillerAnnie was a successful real estate agent, with a caring boyfriend, when she was suddenly abducted. Her abductor takes her away to a cabin in the woods, where he keeps her hostage for over a year. Terrorized both mentally and physically, Annie finds a way to get free. When she returns to the world she had trouble adapting to her freedom, and it only gets harder when she starts to learn who is behind the abduction.

I want to be very careful not to give away spoilers for this book, because I really want you to read it. You NEED to read it. This book is so amazing, particularly for a debut novel. I loved the unique structure of the narrative. Each chapter starts out in Annie's voice, as she narrates bits of her story to her therapist, each chapter being a new therapy section. You immediately feel intimate with Annie, you are privy to her inner thoughts, and a first hand account of her horror. The amount of character development right from the gate is staggering. You literally feel as if you are her therapist. I was completely mesmerized.

The story was terrifying to read, because I know things like this really happen. But the book was incredible; I could not put it down. In fact, I read it in a day. Any lover of thrilling dramas will like this book. I was shocked to learn who it was that set this chain of events into motion, and I think other readers will be as well. Overall, a fantastic, dramatic book that will have me looking over my shoulder for weeks.
  • Richard - cleared up without blisteringI've never had a cold sore, but my adult children do get them occasionally. My son told me that it begins with an itching or tingling in his lip. Friday afternoon of this week I felt what seemed like an itching on the right side of my lower lip. I'd never felt this sensation, so I asked a pharmacist if it might be the telltale cold sore tingling. She thought it could be the beginning of a cold sore, and showed me the Abreva gel in the pharmacy area. I worried about the price, but bought it anyway. I applied the gel a few minutes later. Within maybe 20 or 30 minutes I stopped noticing the itching feeling, and then forgot to apply more, and the itching returned. I applied the gel again and the itching went away again. Yesterday I felt some tingling first thing in the morning, but used the gel and in a few minutes the tingling went away. I continued to use the gel every three hours all day and felt no more tingling or itching. I've had no blisters. My lip is a tiny bit sensitive this morning, so I will continue applications today. I'm not sure I was even experiencing a real cold sore, but the itching has gone away, and I attribute the relief to Abreva.
  • Christie Hartman "Author, Behavioral Scientis... - Research-based and filled with great informationThis is an excellent, very well-researched book on what makes people like you (or even love you). The book is packed with good information, from how/why people fall in love, body language, and other non-verbal signs, to effective communication, social interaction, and sexual interactions. What makes this book so effective is that, for the most part, it emphasizes something very important to all human interactions: good social skills. What are good social skills? Making others feel liked, appreciated, and comfortable in your presence. If you can do that, you will succeed not only in love, but pretty much everywhere else too. Moreover, the book talks about what stirs attraction and love in others, and how to do so with that person you're interested in. It's filled with interesting tidbits, such as offering a compliment before your partner goes fishing for one, overlooking a date's mistakes or faux pas (i.e. pretending to not notice), and why you shouldn't play hard to get (but hint that you're hard for OTHER people to get). Fun stuff.

As someone who writes in the dating and love genre, I was pretty impressed with this book and have even cited it in one of my books. The author's advice is based on actual research studies, and she presents the information in a clear, fun way. It's packed full of information and well worth the money.
